Local Attractions At Marygreen Manor

Ancient ruins on Brentwood High Street

Marygreen Manor is loved for the fact that it offers fabulous accommodation and fabulous food along with its great location. Not only is it situated in one of the most famous towns in Essex but it also happens to possess a great deal of attractions close by. You’re always guaranteed to find something to do and with that in mind, we thought we’d show you just a few of the local attractions you can enjoy here at Marygreen Manor!

Brentwood Town – Brentwood town is one of the most famous towns in Essex thanks to it being one of the main settings of the now world famous The Only Way Is Essex. Just a thirty minute car ride into London, the affluent suburban town of Brentwood is known for its fantastic shopping, its amazing eateries and a nightlife that’s second to none. All this within a five minute taxi ride from Marygreen Manor; it really doesn’t get much better.

Bluewater Shopping Centre – Bluewater is located just a short drive from Brentwood itself. Being located so close to the M25 however, means you’re within a twenty minute journey to one of the most luxury shopping centres around. Bluewater covers a whopping 240 acre plot with 330 stores to peruse. From designer luxury to high street brands, Bluewater really does have everything and with Christmas coming up, we’d say a little shopping is very much needed.

Brentwood Cathedral – If you’re on the lookout for something a little more cultural then perhaps you’d like to take a peek at the amazing Brentwood Cathedral. Dating back to 1861, this parish church has been built in a gothic style and really is a stunning sight. While it is relatively small, it really does have a huge impact.

Cool Off In Essex!

We know only too well just how hot the weather has become and for some, it’s the best thing since sliced bread. For others however, it’s all they can do to try and cool off. Thankfully, right in Essex, we have so many different places that you can travel too and cool off. Some are just around the corner too so whether you’re a guest here at Marygreen Manor or even a resident in this wonderful county of Essex, we’ve got the ultimate rundown of places for you to swim and cool down in this beautiful summer sun.

First up we of course have the awesome Brentwood Centre. This fantastic leisure centre has been used for years by the residents of Brentwood and has recently had a makeover too. During the summer months, it’s always full to the brim with people wanting to cool down and enjoy a little fun in the water. It’s the ideal place to take children too so what are you waiting for? Head on over the Brentwood Centre for some swimming pool splashing action. If you’re looking for some outdoor water fun while you’re staying with us here at Marygreen Manor then may we suggest the Brightlingsea open-air pool? This place is a huge drawer for people all over Essex. While it can get a little crowded, there’s plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. If you really want to avoid the crowds however, then we suggest going there a little earlier or perhaps a little later in the day. It’s the perfect place to take all the family when the sun is shining. Simply dive in and enjoy. With the sunshine as it is at the moment, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the Mediterranean. If you’re thinking of taking the kids to Brightlingsea, then we suggest checking out their website too. While the vast majority of the time is used for open and lane swimming, they do on some occasions offer inflatable sessions with a number of inflatable toys for the children. This is guaranteed to make things even more fun for all the family, big kids included.

If you’re looking for something a little more natural, then check out the River Chelmer in Chelmer Village. You’ll find it just behind the Miller and Carter and Mill Vue Road. Despite it’s often slightly brown appearance, it’s some of the cleanest water you’ll find in and around Essex so if you’d like a little scenery while you’re enjoying a cooling off, we suggest you take a closer look at this wonderful river.

Is a beach more your thing? Well don’t worry; you don’t have to jump on a plane if you’re looking for some beach action. We just so happen to have a pretty beautiful beach right here in Essex. Frinton-on-Sea, with its immaculately clean sandy beaches, coastal walks and simply breath taking views, Frinton is certainly a must visit.

Don’t feel like travelling? Then we have the perfect solution for you. Simply wander into our bar area and try our very own range of cocktails, wines, draft beers and champagnes.

Whether you’re Essex residents yourselves or special guests here at the Marygreen Manor, here’s our ultimate guide to family days out in Essex to guarantee fun, laughter and lots of wonderful, unforgettable memories.

First and foremost we have the brand new “The Great British Pet and Country Show” in the great Hylands Park, Chelmsford. This will begin tomorrow and continue all the way through to Bank Holiday Monday too. From dog shows to horse training to slippery snakes and other such scaly friends, the Great British Pet Show is guaranteed to keep the kids entertained. There’ll also be a lot of shopping there which means plenty of opportunity to treat your furry friends too. Kids go free too, when you book online now.

If pets aren’t your thing however, you’ve still got ample opportunity to enjoy the Essex countryside in the form of Audley End House. This is one of England’s grandest stately homes, complete with restored historic stables and Victorian groom. Here your children can enjoy the history of such a place in the form of stories that come to life in places like the nursery suites. You’ll also get the chance to explore the coal gallery with so many different smells and sounds of the 19th century. This is a particularly great visit for those wanting to educate their children during the school holidays too.

If you’re looking for something fun and enjoyable, while still managing to keep the kids clean then why not check out some of the worlds most beautiful animals in the safe, and might we add clean, environment of Colchester Zoo? Here you and the family will get to enjoy the sights and sounds of some of the most majestic creatures known to man from the Giraffe to Elephants, Lions to Tigers and everything else in between. The gorillas will amaze you with their unbelievable strength while the kids are guaranteed to gasp as just how agile the seals can be as you walk through the amazing tunnel underneath their pool.

If birds are more your thing, then you might want to check out Tropical Wings Zoo. This place is great for introducing children to the wonderful world of winged creatures. They even have a few special residents too including porcupines and meerkats. Better yet, you can even enjoy the free-flying butterflies all year round.

Now while days like this are indeed fun for the vast majority, we know not every family is about the great outdoors and for you guys we’ve got a rather special suggestion.
