You Need To Try Marygreen Manor Fine Dining!

Did you know one of the main reasons people miss out on a truly joyful moment in life – price. That’s right! Label a restaurant as fine dining and people immediately see pound signs. While we can’t deny, a true fine dining experience is always a little more expensive, it’s no where near the kind of price many seem to think it is. It’s also worth noting that a true fine dining experience will provide you with three elements you just won’t find anywhere else and they are…

High quality food and drink – here at Marygreen Manor, we cook from only the very best ingredients. We always, when able to, source local ingredients too. This means that our menu changes seasonally and while it may not feature as many dishes as say, a chain restaurant in the high street, you will instead notice some truly unique items that you just wouldn’t find anywhere else. On top of this, you’ll also find yourself privy to an award-winning wine list with each wine picked specifically to compliment each individual dish.

Unbeatable service – when it comes to service within a fine dining restaurant, there’s quite simply nothing else like it. Not only will you find staff much more attentive to your every need, but you’ll also find a few added extras such as crumbing tables between courses, replacing napkins if you leaves the table, escorting you to the table and holding chairs for women as well as serving food directly at the table. Such added details are quite simply exquisite and really separate a fine dining restaurant from any other.

An elegant atmosphere – from grand décor to modern, contemporary hand made furniture; a fine dining restaurant is guaranteed to blow you away and Marygreen Manor is no exception to the rule. Considering the history of our manor house, you’ll find some amazing period features offering a real hint of our Tudor history too.

As you can see, fine dining is much more than simply “eating out”. It’s an experience that you’ll want to enjoy again and again.

Marygreen Manor fine dining offers more than great taste!

Local produce always tastes the finest…

If you were to ask someone about the benefits of fine dining, then the vast majority would probably tell you about the health benefits. It’s widely known that fine dining is actually a rather healthy way to eat. Not only do you eat slower between portions but the portions themselves are smaller too which means your body gets a chance to feel full before you’ve managed to eat far too much. On top of that, a fine dining meal will also tend to contain a wider variety of food groups. Paired with wine, you can relax, unwind with friends and enjoy the slow release of dopamine as you enjoy a relatively healthy night out. What could be better? Well perhaps the fact that fine dining offers a lot more than a guilt free food session.

Customer service – due to the high level of food during a fine dining experience, the customer service is often above and beyond what you would usually find in a normal restaurant. This is something we feel strongly about here at the Marygreen Manor. We want you to not only enjoy the food you’re served but the way it’s served too. From the moment you cross the threshold, we want you to feel so much more than the average Joe. We want you to feel phenomenal from start to finish.

Top shelf wines, beers and spirits – as anyone would agree, a fine dining experience simply wouldn’t be “fine” with average alcohol. Just as the food is on another level, so should the alcohol be. Thankfully here at the Marygreen Manor, not only do we offer quality beers, spirits and soft drinks, but we also happen to have an award winning wine list to accompany our fabulous food.

You’ll stay abreast of trends – this isn’t something people necessarily think of but surprisingly, something that pleases many without them realising. Enjoying fine dining means that not only do you get to enjoy fabulous food, prepared and served at the very highest of levels but you also benefit from staying abreast of the very latest trends within the food industry. Our head chef not only freshens up our menu seasonally but also looks for the most current food trends to incorporate within the menus too. Not only that but they’ll also recognise exactly when a so-called food trend is suddenly turning into a food fad too, case in point mini-burgers circa 2009.

Aside from benefits such as this, when you enjoy fine dining you’ll also get to enjoy a truly wonderful experience too. Here at the Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant, we know just the sheer setting within our manor house is stunning enough. Add to this a wonderful ambience, beautiful food and the highest level of service and there’s simply nothing better to enjoy. If you’d like to experience a night like this in our exquisite Tudor restaurant, then we advise you call to make a reservation in plenty of time. Reservations not only guarantee you a table at one of Essex’s most popular restaurant and hotels but it also allows us to space apart “fine diners” ensuring our kitchen staff can focus intently on just yourselves.

National Afternoon Tea Week Is The Perfect Excuse To Indulge

Marygreen Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea at Marygreen Manor Hotel

This current week running from the 10th to 16th August is officially Afternoon Tea Week and what a fantastic week it is. Celebrating the heritage and tradition of the age-old Afternoon Tea here in the UK, it couldn’t be a more fitting event for the Marygreen Manor to enjoy. Famous for our world-class Afternoon Teas and our specialty Celebration Teas, they’re considered the finest in Essex so it makes perfect sense to have an entire weekend dedicated to such delicacies and as the great Henry James once said, “There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.”

Afternoon Tea; the modern tradition

Afternoon tea is considered to be one of the most quintessential of all British customs but did you know it’s actually a relatively new custom? Whilst drinking a good old cup of tea dates back centuries to around the 3rd millennium BC, the Afternoon Tea wasn’t actually introduced until 1840. It became popular after Anna, the Duchess of Bedford began feeling hungry around 4 o’clock in the afternoon and to combat it, would enjoy a light afternoon tea before her main meal. After becoming popular with her friends too, it grew to become quite a fashionable social event that women would eventually wear long gowns in order to enjoy.

The best Afternoon Tea in Essex

Celebration Tea Cakes

A twist on tradition with our Celebration Tea

Our traditional Afternoon Tea, served in our Tudors restaurant, consists of finger sandwiches and scones, clotted cream and jams along with a selection of quality cakes and pastries. Our Celebration Teas however, offer a perfect twist on tradition consisting of savoury canapés, mini desserts and a delicious assortment of petit fours. If you want to experience the best Afternoon Tea in Essex then there really is no better establishment to try than the Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant. With our traditional Afternoon Tea starting at a mere £16.50 per person, there’s nowhere else that you can find such quality food at such an affordable price. For more information simply click here.

Want A Night At The Musicals?

musical note

Enjoy a night with all your favourite musical songs

It would seem today there are now more musicals than regular plays currently running in the city and it would appear several more are on their way too. The appetite for an evening in the company of a well told story set to memorable music shows no signs of stopping either. So what is it that’s got everyone so in love with the musical?

Is it the shows ability to move you emotionally (and physically when the right song comes on) that really pulls you in? Is the heartfelt story that’s always told so well through the wonderfully sung notes or is it simply the exciting and often exhilarating tempo of a musical that attracts you? Whatever it is, it’s safe to say that we all love a good musical. Today with the Top 40 clogged up with the same old dance and pop songs, not to mention the demise of popular music on mainstream TV (RIP TOTPs), what could be better than the chance to enjoy a night at a musical accompanied by fabulous food too?

Here at The Marygreen Manor, we’re putting on a fantastic event this coming April titled “A Night At The Musicals” where you’ll be able to relax and listen to some of the best musical tributes in Essex. To top it off, you’ll also be able to enjoy the music alongside a stunning three-course meal cooked in our award-winning kitchen. Each course will be separated by forty-five minutes of soulful music that we’re sure you’ll recognise from some of the country’s most popular musical shows.

This amazing night of fine dining and even finer music can be enjoyed for the small fee of just £49.50 per person. That’s an entire evening of entertainment and food for under £50 and what’s more, you won’t need to travel all the way into London for it either. For more information on our fabulous Night At The Musicals this coming April 17th just email us on info@marygreenmanor.co.uk or better still, give us a call on 01277 225252.

Could Fine Dining Be Healthier For You?

Rib Eye Steak and tomatoes

Simply sublime

Here at Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant we have a theory about fine dining; we believe that it’s not only the best way to dine out but the healthiest too. It’s actually not that far fetched an idea either considering you eat slower and have smaller portions too. When you eat at your local Indian restaurant or maybe even a fast food chain we bet you leave feeling like you need to be rolled to your car. People often indulge themselves to the point of feeling hugely uncomfortable even though the quality of food was perhaps substandard. When you choose fine dining such from somewhere like our Tudor Restaurant however, you leave feeling comfortably full. Ironic considering it often consists of three completely different courses. The trick here is in the portion sizes and the fact that there is always a small pause between courses. This gives your digestive system a chance to work and your brain a chance to tell you that you’re full up.

Another benefit of fine dining is the variety of food groups you’ll consume within one evening. Eating a variety of food groups including fruit and vegetables is extremely important in helping you maintain a healthy diet as well as obtain all of the essential nutrients your body is crying out for. At The Marygreen you’ll find that not only will you enjoy a variety of fruit and vegetables within your meal, but it’ll change seasonally too as our Head Chef regularly changes the menu. You’ll also find a few different or rare choices of food here that you wouldn’t normally find elsewhere.

Lastly, where would any good meal be without a quality wine list? But we don’t just offer quality wine we offer award-winning wine. Our excellent list offers you the chance to relax and indulge with the very best wine to accompany the fabulous food and this is certainly not something you’ll find just anywhere. If you’d like to treat your taste buds to excellence and know you’re giving your body only the very best then contact us today.
