Our Wedding Venue Open Day Is A Date For Your Diary!

wedding venue open day

As the summer season sets in, so too does that wonderful wedding buzz. Here at Marygreen Manor, we simply adore the glow of an excited bride, the jovial behavior between a groom and his groomsmen. We love watching couples say “I do”, dedicating their lives to one another and celebrating all that it entails with their nearest and dearest. While the wedding day is indeed an important day, and one to be remembered no less, there’s one day that the staff of Marygreen Manor love even more than a wedding and that’s our wedding open days. The air of excitement that takes over our manor house from not just one, but a multitude of excited couples is quite simply heart warming. There’s nothing so beautiful as a newly engaged couple envisioning their day together. With this in mind, we’d like to ask you to put a date in your diary for our next wedding venue open day!

On Saturday 30th September, we’ll be opening our doors for all newly engaged (and not so newly engaged) couples up and down the country. You’ll get to see our full facilities in all their glory, set for the wedding of your dreams from 10am until 4pm. We’ll be offering canapés, Champagne and unbridled viewing of everywhere from our bridal suites to our ceremony halls. You’ll also be privy to some fabulous special offers and discounts on the day.

Why attend our wedding venue open day?

A question we often get asked however, “should I go to a wedding open day?” So we thought we’d address this commonly asked question here by explaining exactly why you should! Here goes;

It’s super fun – while it might sound like a bit of a drag for those who may not be as detail oriented as the next person, wedding open days are great fun. Not only will you get to see the place you’ll (hopefully) be saying “I do” but you’ll also get to enjoy free champagne and canapés. What more could you want?

Take the stress out of your big day – attending our wedding venue open day won’t just give you a glimpse of your wedding venue. It will also give you a glimpse as to how we can help you when it comes to catering, drinks and décor. We’ll help to take the stress out of your day by organising a huge chunk. We may even be able to offer the names of some fabulous suppliers we’ve worked with before in the past.

Feel inspired – not sure how you want your big day to look? Then allow us to show you some of the best ways to decorate our manor house. Take a little inspiration from the experts here at Marygreen Manor and add your own personal twist.

Save money – as we mentioned above, attending our wedding venue open day will mean you’re privy to a few discounts and deals. This will save you more money than you realised; money that could be better spent elsewhere, such as a honeymoon for example?

Ask all the questions you need to – we know only too well in this day and age that finding out information can be tough. The majority of the time, it’s a case of sending emails back and forth until you have all the information you need which, when coupled with jobs and family commitments, can take a while. By attending our open day however, you’ll get to ask all the questions you can think of and receive an answer there and then. No time consuming emails, no back and forth with staff members. Just simple, easy advice and help.

Enjoy Your Wedding Whatever The Weather

essex wedding venue

It feels like weddings are all around at the moment and are you surprised? There’s nothing quite like a spring wedding here in the UK but with spring weather comes a level of uncertainty. While you can’t predict just what will happen on your big day, there are ways you can prepare for it and here at Marygreen Manor, we’ve become experts when it comes to planning for unexpected weather on your wedding day. Here are some of our top tips for keeping everyone warm, dry and most importantly focusing on the bride and not the pouring rain.

Talk to your venue – despite everyone’s good spirits and insistence that it “won’t rain”, we can’t emphasise enough just how important it is to talk to your venue i.e. Marygreen Manor. You want to know if they offer a plan B should the heavens open and you find yourself in the middle of the biggest storm to ever hit Brentwood. From the ceremony to the wedding photos, you need to ensure that there are options to cater for such events. Thankfully, here at Marygreen Manor, we have halls and suites to cater to every wedding party size should the weather stop you from enjoying the spring sunshine.

Secure a tent or hall indoors – while it’s all very well and good knowing a venue has a hall or suite available should the weather turn disastrous, simply knowing this information isn’t enough. Take the smart step and secure a tent or hall indoors should the weather turn nasty. This not only allows your day to continue without pause but also prevents any stress or worry on the day…something any bride and groom could do without.

Plan ahead – it’s always best to plan ahead when it comes to weddings instead of leaving it until the week before your wedding to decide what you’ll do should the weather turn nasty. Consider everything, from the placing of the cake to the flowers, wedding music and more. Whether it’s an extra layer to go with your bridal gown, a few logs beside the fire should the wind pick up or even the necessary ingredients to put together a batch of hot chocolate, it pays to plan ahead. It may involve spending a few extra pounds but we guarantee it’ll be worth every penny if you wake up on the morning of your wedding to bad weather.

Keep everyone in the loop – if you really have your heart set on a wedding out in the open space, such as our landscaped gardens for instance, then we suggest you let your guests know what they’re getting involved in. Even if you decide to leave just a small note on your wedding invitation, or even a popular addition to all wedding invites now known as the “rain card” that simply suggests your guests prepare for an outdoor wedding. This reminds them to dress appropriately should the weather take a turn for the worse. The more information you give your guests, the better they’ll be able to prepare and the happier they’ll be. This makes for far less stress on the day and anything that helps towards smooth sailing is good in our books.

Last but not least…embrace it – as any resident of the UK knows, you can’t control the weather so if you can’t beat them, join them and embrace a little rain. Think about the most romantic scenes in your favourite romcoms and remind yourself of the rain that often fills them. At the very least, you’ll have some of the most memorable wedding photography moments to look forward to.

Join Us On Our Wedding Open Day In January!

With Halloween well and truly past us, the vast majority will immediately dive straight into the festive season that is Christmas. The ghosts and goblins have hung up their boots and out walk the elves into Santa’s workshops ready for a couple of months of some seriously hard graft. Now, while we’re only too happy to take on the festive spirit, after all, Christmas is a time to be merry and who doesn’t love that, we know only too well that there are a certain group of people out there who may already be looking past the Christmas season. In fact, we know they’ll be looking further ahead into next year, perhaps even the summer and autumn seasons. The people appearing to wish their lives away? Well you see, these special people are the ones who’ll be saying their “I do’s” and declaring their love for that special someone.

To take a little of the stress away, it’s always nice to have the venue booked and ultimately the date set. In order to do this however, you need to find the venue first and what better way to discover an amazing venue than when it opens it’s doors specifically to show you just how wonderful it could look. Luckily for you, here at the Marygreen Manor, we just so happen to be holding a wedding open day this coming January. That means that as a new year begins, so too can your new adventure.

We’d like to extend an invite to all wanting to take a peek, all prospective brides and grooms. The day will begin with Champagne and canapés (it doesn’t get much better than that now does it) from 10am, all the way through until 4pm. Not only will you get to fully appreciate just how impressive a venue the Marygreen Manor is as a manor house hotel and restaurant alone, but you’ll also get to see it fully set for the wedding of your dreams. While you’re here, you’ll be able to view our stunning range of rooms, including the bridal suites and executive rooms along with any special offers and discounts we may be offering on the day. Entry is free, so what are you waiting for. Put our Wedding Open Day in your diary this January, Saturday 28th. We can’t wait to see you all.

Choosing Your Wedding Venue: Part Two

image1

Moving on from our last blog post, “Choosing your wedding venue: Part one”, we thought we’d discuss a few final and might we add, important details that are worth noting when making your decision. Our last blog post saw us focus on wedding styles and themes, how far in advance you should consider booking as well as ensuring you enjoy your day exactly how you’d like to. In this blog post, we’ll be looking at the final two details that can have a real influence on your wedding venue and those are location and spending. Let’s face it, if money and travel were no option, we’d all be getting married on Richard Branson’s dessert islands. Sadly, reality faces us all but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a dream wedding now does it? So first things first, let’s look at a hugely important aspect…location!

Location, location – regardless of whether you wish to marry in a church, a hotel, or even a football stadium, location will always be a deciding factor. Why? If you plan on marrying in a church then you must choose a location that either the bride or groom (or both) has grown up in. There aren’t many churches that would allow a couple who’ve not attended their parish to marry or at least have some sort of family connection with the church. It’s also worth keeping in mind how long it takes for you and your guests to get to the venue. This can actually have a huge impact on your day. If you have guests travelling from far and wide, then at the very least you’re going to need a venue with great access links. Here at Marygreen Manor, we happen to be one such venue that can rather easily be accessed by road, train, bus and quite possibly any other form of transport you can think of. This makes us incredibly easy to reach for not only yourselves but for all of your guests too. Opting for venues that are slightly off of the beaten track, while super tranquil can often pose problems when it comes to finding it. The last thing you need on your big day are stressed and/or lost guests. You also need to consider transport for guests if the ceremony venue and the evening venue are separate. This not only adds to cost but will also take up a significant amount of time. Have you budgeted for this? Last but not least, if you opt for a super rural location, you’ll need to consider accommodation for your guests. Are there enough rooms in your evening venue for all guests to stay or will they need to find somewhere else, in which case, is there anywhere else?

Stay clever with the spending – budget is a key factor for absolutely everyone, especially when it comes to the venues you’re looking at. Before putting down deposits, it’s worth talking to the in-house co-ordinators to see what deals or gifts they can offer. It’s also important to find out just what’s included. This ensures absolutely no nasty surprises.

On a final note, we highly advise you visit your potential venue at least once, especially if they’re hosting a wedding show. You’ll get to see it dressed up as if it were your wedding day, giving you not only a great glimpse into the future but also a good idea as to what you may want to add yourself to give it that real personal touch. Here at the Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant, we’d like to invite you to take a look at what we’d like to consider one of the best wedding venues in Essex. For more information, contact us today or better still, why not attend our next Wedding Open Day on Saturday 17th September? That’s less than 2 weeks away!!

Choosing Your Wedding Venue: Part One

Our Wedding Garden

Marygreen Manor Hotel, Brentwood – The Perfect Wedding Venue for your Special Day

Choosing a wedding venue is no easy feat. It’s without doubt one of the biggest days of your life and as such, picking the venue is one of the biggest decisions (amongst others of course). It’s good to start considering things nice and early, to know your options straight away. If you’re still struggling to decide where to hold your wedding, then we thought we’d give you the ultimate guide to finding the perfect venue. Here in part one, we’re going to look at when to book, picking a theme and ensuring you have your day, your way!

Of course, the venue you choose will have a little influence on the amount of guests you invite, the theme and styling too, along with the amount of budget you have to spend on certain luxuries, however, depending where you choose, you can have your dream wedding for the budget you want. You just need to find the venue.

It’s your day, have it your way – first and foremost, you need to decide on the sort of wedding you want. Once you’ve made this decision, it’s about deciding on your budget. Of course, budgets can rule out certain venues, perhaps you won’t be getting married at the Dorchester hotel after-all however, our manor house here in Brentwood, set within stunning landscaped gardens and period décor offers a variety of different packages to suit absolutely every single budget. This means that even when the purse strings are tight, you could enjoy the country house wedding venue you’ve always wanted without the years of debt afterward. Sounds like the perfect wedding to us that’s for sure. The beauty of a place like Marygreen Manor is that you can choose whether you’d like it a little more intimate, catering for a smaller gathering or perhaps a little bigger. Once you know what best suits you, as a couple, then you can pick a wedding package to suit your big day.

Booking the big day – it’s perfectly normal for some couples to book their wedding day at their desired venue around twelve to eighteen months in advance. This gives them plenty of time to plan their day, from the canapés to the flowers. Popular wedding venues like the Marygreen Manor can get booked up in advance so while you may think eighteen months seems like a really long time, it’s actually the perfect amount of time to ensure the date you’d like. This is especially the case if you’re looking to get married during the summer months. As soon as you’ve found “the one” (and we don’t mean your partner) we advise you book. Having said that, we have had a number of couples enjoy some cancellation dates, giving themselves just a few months to plan their wedding. While it can be stressful, it’s more than doable, especially with the help of our knowledgeable staff. Once your date’s secured however, it’s then time to move on to considering what sort of wedding you’d like in terms of style and theme…

Your wedding style/theme – now while the theme of your wedding can be directly affected by your chosen venue, it’s worth noting that with a little décor here and a few accessories there, you can of course work wonders anywhere. It’s also worth noting however, that you can’t necessarily create miracles so it’s best to stick to a venue that isn’t too far from what you’re after. While our country house does enjoy many a period feature, it does have some very contemporary aspects too so we’re quite proud to say we offer a mix of traditional and contemporary weddings.

This is of course only part one of our “Choosing a wedding venue” guide so keep your eyes peeled for the next installment coming soon. If you’d like more information, then please don’t hesitate to contact us or better still, take a look at our wedding brochure here!

Choosing The Perfect Wedding Venue In Essex

The Perfect Wedding Venue In Essex

When you’re newly engaged, one of the first questions you’ll inevitably be asked is, “have you picked a venue yet?” Although we want to scream to world just how happy we are that we’re about to spend the rest of our lives with the one we love, the constant barrage of questions about a venue can make you want to run and hide. Gone are the days when a couple would simply select the local church in their hometown and simply check it off their list of things to do. Wedding venue options are now almost infinite and as a result people want the very best space to say their “I do’s”. As a very popular wedding venue in Essex we’ve discovered that making things as easy as possible for couples is the best thing to do. Here are our five simple rules when it comes to selecting the perfect wedding venue in Essex. Stick by these and you should be able to select your ideal venue in no time at all.

  1. Understanding the logistics – with all the emotions and excitement that inevitably comes with such an occasion, it can be all too easy to see a venue, get excited and sign a contract. It’s important however that you consider the logistics of the venue saving you headaches later down the line. You need to think of how many guests you’ll be needing, the season and time of day and any special accommodation requirements. Give yourself a rough count of guests too as this will make things a lot easier when it comes to picking the venue.
  2. Visit the venue at the time of day your wedding will be – if you work a regular 9 to 5 then chances are you’ll be visiting your venue on a Saturday or Sunday but what time of day will you be getting hitched? You might fall in love with the venue immediately but you should always arrange for a second visit at the same time of day you plan on getting married. If you visit the venue at 9am in the morning, we guarantee you’ll see a completely different view at 5pm that evening. Everything from how the lighting floods into the space to how darker evenings may affect the setting will be things you’ll want to consider.
  3. Find out if the venue is full service – there are two different wedding venues in Essex, one that offers the full service and one that isn’t full service. Full service offers you everything from tables and chairs to catering and linen whilst a non-full service merely offers you the space. Looking for a full service venue will make your day sail smoother than a P&O ferry and will often make the end cost a lot smaller too. That means more for the honeymoon budget.
  4. Decide on your wedding style and feel – whether you want romance, elegance or urban industrial, the venue is there for the picking in our fabulous county. You just need to be specific about what you want and stick to your guns. You also need to ask yourself if the wedding you want will befit the seasonal weather you’ll be getting married in. Could your favourite wedding venue alter where the ceremony and wedding breakfast take place if the weather turns? As we all know this is hugely important here in the UK.
  5. Ask as many questions as possible – always ask as many questions as you possibly can. A silly question simply doesn’t exist, especially when it comes to one of the most important days of your life. Don’t be afraid to ask any question that pops into your head and if you don’t understand the answer or simply can’t remember all the information you’re being given, just ask again. Better yet, take a note pad and keep a note of answers to everything you’ve asked then just when you think you’ve asked every question possible, you’ll think of something else to ask. Get everything in writing and then go from there. That way you’ll have all the information you need to make the perfect decision.
