Dine Out This Christmas Day!

a red gift box

Christmas Day is one of the most exciting days of the year but with the pressure of simultaneously cooking for your loved ones and of course the inevitable requirement to feign excitement when you unwrap yet another pair of socks for the third time in a row, is it any wonder that more and more Brits each year are heading out to eat on Christmas Day?

Now of course, Christmas isn’t Christmas without turkey and stuffing, roast potatoes and pigs-in-blankets; oh and of course the sweet stuff like Christmas pudding but as any Christmas caterer (aka mum and dad) will tell you, cooking on Christmas Day takes a great deal of work. That includes before, during and even after the day’s festivities, especially when you include the huge clean up that’ll no doubt occur when the vast majority fall asleep on the sofa watching the little ones play with their toys. With this in mind, it’s easy to see just why so many are choosing to venture out instead of cooking for themselves and hey, let’s face it, with the thought of having a quality Christmas Dinner brought to you and cleared away after, it’s a no-brainer.

It’s for this reason that we’ve created the perfect Christmas Day menu. Our magnificent Christmas Day Lunch is the ultimate Christmas treat for all the family, especially the one’s who usually find themselves stuck in the kitchen cooking it. If you’d think eating out this Christmas would be the perfect choice for you, then please do contact us today. A deposit of £50pp will be required upon booking in order to secure your place with full payment required before the 1st December. We can’t wait to see you!

Time To Think About Your Office Christmas Party?

Father Christmas

It may only be July, but we guarantee the vast majority of offices are already thinking about their office Christmas party and if everyone else is thinking about it, that means you need to be thinking about it too. While organising the office Christmas party may sound fun, we know that if you’ve been left the tough task of booking a fantastic night out for Christmas, the pressure can mount up.

Pleasing an entire office full of people is nothing short of difficult but if there’s one thing we’ve learnt, it’s that a night offering a little of everything really does do the trick. While Linda in accounts may want to dance the night away, Ian in HR may just want to socialise over a good meal. So why not kill two birds with one stone and offer a night that includes both.

Here at Marygreen Manor, we offer the ultimate Corporate Christmas Party Package. Here at our fabulous venue that is the most incredibly manor house, we provide private room hire for you and your party. All guests will be met with an on-arrival drink (guaranteed to put smiles on faces from the very beginning) not long before they’re met with an incredible finger buffet. This always pleases as it allows everyone to eat and relax as and when they want. It’s perfect for encouraging a large team to mingle a little more too.

Once the buffet has been enjoyed and no doubt demolished by everyone, the evening entertainment starts in the form of a disco. With your teams tummies full, and a few drinks down, we guarantee that every single one attending your Marygreen Manor Christmas Party will spend the rest of the evening dancing the night away, and you? Well, you’ll receive all the credit for the best office Christmas party yet. Call 01277 225252 for more info and please note a deposit of £28.50 per person will be required upon booking.

It’s Christmas In Essex!

wonderland-leaflet-master-2016

If you were one of the few people that had to work this weekend then you’ll no doubt be a little grumpy at having to miss a number of Christmas markets that took place yesterday and today. From Great Dunmow to Southend-On-Sea, there was a lot going on but thankfully, there’s still plenty for you to get involved in, in and around Essex.

From the 14th December (Wednesday) onwards, Romford Christmas Market will be in full swing from 9am to 4pm every day. Your favourite stall traders will be opening their stalls for ten full days all the way up until Christmas eve (luckily for those last minute shoppers) offering seasonal treats and other much needed items for under that tree. With Romford market, not only will you have everything you need for those ultimate surprises on Christmas Day but your larder will be full to the brim. For all those needing a little bling for their Christmas party, Romford Market will have exactly what you need there too, from true Essex bling to some real classic pieces, so whatever it is you’re looking for, Romford Market is sure to have it and help you get in the Christmas spirit too.

If you thought you’d have to make your way to Hyde Park to enjoy a true Winter Wonderland then you’d be mistaken. As much as we love being so close to London, we also happen to love that no matter what London has to offer, Essex has the ability to go that one step better and that’s exactly what they’ve done at Tyndalls Winter Wonderland in Nazeing, Essex. Complete with Santa’s Grotto, this Winter Wonderland is guaranteed to get you all in the mood for festivities this Christmas.

Whether you’re a guest here at Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant or a resident of Essex, Christmas has certainly arrived and looks set to be an extra exciting one this year.

Keep Organised For A Stress-Free Christmas!

Christmas 010

Being such a popular venue in Essex for Christmas Parties, and even Christmas Day gatherings, we know too well the importance of getting yourselves organised for Christmas and as December seems to have popped up out of nowhere, we thought we’d look at some top organising tips to ensure you’ve got everything sorted and in place, ready for you to relax and enjoy Christmas Day to the max.

Get the Christmas Cards written – it always feels like a project in itself to write cards and send them off in time so now is the perfect time to do it. Grab your address book or even your phone call list and use it as your Christmas Card list. Simply go through in alphabetical order and count up everyone who you’ll be buying a card for. You might also want to add a few extra special cards for special family members too. You could even make a saving by using second class stamps if you send them within the first week of December. Can’t bring yourself to write them out all in one go? Then sit down and write a few each evening.

Think of weight when buying presents – if you’re going to be posting presents, then we advise you have a little think about shape and weight. Ideal presents for posting include clothes, dress jewellery, cuddly toys, vouchers and even magazine subscriptions. You might also want to look at things that get sent for you such as hampers, flowers and wine. These types of gifts usually include very well priced postage too.

Stick to your present list and budget – this is something that seems to go ignored year after year as people inevitably go overboard. This year make a promise to yourself that you won’t over spend. You’ll stick to your budget and for once, not spend the rest of the New Year paying for your Christmas presents. If you don’t have a lot of money, then why not think of being a little more creative? Children, especially, love creative gifts, appreciating what you’ve made for them and is often the case, they’ll no doubt be overwhelmed by presents on the day anyway so instead, give them something to truly cherish. For others, why not try getting just one special present instead of several others.

There are of course a million and one other tips you could try to keep yourself organised ready for Christmas but we thought these were the best of the bunch and perfect for freeing up time and money for you to enjoy perhaps a delicious Christmas Day meal here at Marygeen Manor. The turning on of the Brentwood Christmas lights has certainly started the season off and in good festive fashion, everyone is now getting in to the Christmas spirit. If you didn’t manage to make it to the high street in time for this light up, have no fear as Shenfield will be having their annual Christmas Fayre this coming Sunday along Hutton Road between 1pm and 5pm. The event will be celebrating Christmas with a whole host of festive entertainment, different activities and even a number of different market stalls for everyone to enjoy. What’s more, they’ll even be an ice rink, a snow globe and a stage hosted by the fantastic Phoenix FM. A number of local businesses will also be taking part, getting involved in a number of the activities in order to celebrate the approaching holidays with On a Plate even hosting a Santa’s Grotto. It’s days like this that really help you to start winding down and enjoying yourself over everyone’s favourite holiday of the year.

Here at the Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant however, we’re going that extra step further and making December all about Christmas with a whole host of events. Take a peek right here:

Pre-Christmas menu – From the 1st December through to Christmas Eve, we’ll be hosting Christmas lunch and dinners. Here we’ll be offering a very special Marygeen Pre-Christmas menu at just £17.95 per person for lunch (Mon-Sat) and £22.95 per person for dinner (Mon-Fri only). This will all be set in our beautiful Tudors Restaurant.

Corporate/Private Christmas Parties – When you’re looking for a truly exceptional Christmas party experience, there really is nowhere else to go. We have a range of packages to suit any company including private room hire, reception drinks, festive buffets or three course meals and even £500 bar tabs. What’s more, all this from as little as £39.50 per person.

Join-a-party Nights – The “Best Christmas Parties Around” are back guys. Whether you’re looking to cut some rug on the 8th December, 15th December or even the 16th December, we’ll be hosting party nights with the amazing Tony Covell, to include a delicious three course meal and a fun packed evening of music with all the regular party novelties you’d expect at Christmas. These nights begin at 7pm and finish at 11:30pm. They’re the perfect night out for groups of 4 and above. They’re fantastic value at £49.50 per person too.

Christmas Day – What sort of hotel and restaurant would we be if we didn’t offer to take the weight of Christmas Day off your shoulders and serve you a delicious one right here in our Tudor Restaurant? Our Christmas Day experience really is a first class service, offering an exceptionally well-presented four course meal for £130 per person. Children up to the age of 8 are just £65.

Boxing Day – While Christmas may be over, the celebrations are only just beginning and here at the Marygreen Manor, we’re offering a delicious Boxing Day meal (three courses of course) in the, as always, magical atmosphere of our stunning Tudors Restaurant for just £65 per adult and £35 for child under 8. So while some might be feeling a little down after the fun and festivities of Christmas have ended, here at the Marygreen Manor, we’ll ensure the magic hangs around for a little longer.

Twixmas Break – There is of course always New Years Eve to think about but that lull in between can often be a little less than fun, unless of course you get to enjoy a Twixmas Break here at the Marygreen Manor. That’s a three course meal for two, an overnight stay and a full English breakfast the next morning, all for just £99. This break is always a popular one as it gives everyone a little something to look forward to between the real big nights and celebrations in December.

New Years Eve – Last but most certainly not least we have of course our rather fabulous New Years Eve celebrations where we guarantee a night of raucous fun and frolics kicking off with complimentary cocktails in the lounge bar before a sumptuous four course meal in our Tudors Restaurant. You’ll also enjoy some awesome music thanks to our resident DJ until 2am and all for just £89 per person.

Start And Finish Your Christmas Shopping Today With Marygreen Manor Vouchers

Merry Christmas

Have a Merry Christmas here at the Marygreen Manor

We’ve got just 21 more days of Christmas shopping opportunities left. Now although that does sound like a fair amount of time, when you work out how many of those days will be crossed off the list with work, that whittles it down to just 6 days left. Again, this could be misconstrued as more than enough time but that’s not taking into consideration any weekend hobbies, socialising or even relaxation time that we’ll inevitably take on the run up to the big day. So really, all in all, we probably have maybe 1 or 2 good days. The question is, do you know what you’re getting and where from because if not, you’re in for a tough ride. Equally, even if you know what’s on your shopping list, it’s still very much a guessing game as to whether or not the shops will still have it in stock. The short and sweet of it is, if you haven’t done your Christmas shopping by now, you’re going to come a little unstuck.

Now before you pass out in fear, overwhelmed by images of tantrum throwing spouses, we’re hear to tell you we have the answer and it comes in the form of a rather small and rather innocent looking gift voucher. At the Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant, a gift voucher doesn’t just buy you food; it buys you a tantalising, mouth-watering explosion in each bite you take. It doesn’t just buy you a hotel room; it buys you a luxurious escape from the rat race and daily grind in the comfort of exquisite furnishings. It doesn’t just buy you afternoon tea; it buys you a trip back to 1840 when Anna the Duchess of Bedford first discovered a craving for such delights.

Gift a loved one the true gift of time and memories this year with a gift voucher for the Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant.

Planning The Perfect Corporate Christmas Party

Christmas Parties At The Marygreen Manor

When it comes to the job of planning the office Christmas party, it can often seem like quite the frightening prospect but you’re not alone. Time constraints along with the pressure of wanting to please all of your colleagues can often make it a stressful task. One thing to remember is that when it comes to Christmas, it’s never too early to start planning however, it can become too late. With the beginning of November in sight and the countdown to Christmas officially begun, if you haven’t started organising your office Christmas party then we suggest you start right now.

Now before you begin to stress about this seemingly unattainable task, allow us to first tell you that here at the Marygreen Manor, we can make things a whole lot easier for you. With our private/corporate Christmas parties, we can make the organising of this festive tradition a walk in the park leaving you with just a few last minute preparations although we aren’t saying they’re going to be easy. Let’s take you through it step by step shall we?

  • Set the date – Christmas is a hugely busy period, whether you celebrate it or not so diaries fill up fast for everyone. This means you’re going to need to pencil in a date that’s not only available here at the Marygreen Manor but available amongst you all too. The best way to do this is to set up a group chat via your smart phones or an email chain sending out potential options until a date can be narrowed down. Now remember, you’re not going to please everyone so just opt for the “majority rules” option. Weekends are obviously going to be the most popular but won’t always be available so a weekday shouldn’t be ruled out however do remind the boss (unless that’s you in which case tell yourself…) not to expect a particularly productive team the next day.
  • Decide on a budget – once you have the final number of people attending, you can then decide on your budget. Your budget will always impact the type of party you organise and determine how much food and drink will be made available. Once you’ve found out your budget you can then discuss between everyone which option you’d like to choose. Our private/corporate Christmas parties offer two different options. Option 1 starts from £39.50 per person and includes private room hire, a reception drink, a festive buffet along with a £500 bar tab and a DJ for the evening. Option 2 at £49.50 per person offers once again, private room hire, a reception drink along with the £500 bar tab and DJ however within this option the buffet has been replaced with a 3 course festive dinner catering to all taste buds. Do remember however that the office Christmas party is often more of a thank you to staff and while the budget may cater for the sit down 3 course meal, you may find the buffet environment more informal and jovial for your hard worked staff. You might also want to leave money aside as somewhat of a back up should the bar tab run past your £500 allowance although with our great prices, we find that hard to believe.
  • Organise the transport – last but not least, make things even easier for your staff and organise transportation to and from the event. This will ensure they can really let their hair down and enjoy a drink or two without worrying about how they’re getting home. If that’s a little too difficult due to a number of different home destinations then collecting cab numbers will be enough.
