Time To Think About Your Office Christmas Party?

Father Christmas

It may only be July, but we guarantee the vast majority of offices are already thinking about their office Christmas party and if everyone else is thinking about it, that means you need to be thinking about it too. While organising the office Christmas party may sound fun, we know that if you’ve been left the tough task of booking a fantastic night out for Christmas, the pressure can mount up.

Pleasing an entire office full of people is nothing short of difficult but if there’s one thing we’ve learnt, it’s that a night offering a little of everything really does do the trick. While Linda in accounts may want to dance the night away, Ian in HR may just want to socialise over a good meal. So why not kill two birds with one stone and offer a night that includes both.

Here at Marygreen Manor, we offer the ultimate Corporate Christmas Party Package. Here at our fabulous venue that is the most incredibly manor house, we provide private room hire for you and your party. All guests will be met with an on-arrival drink (guaranteed to put smiles on faces from the very beginning) not long before they’re met with an incredible finger buffet. This always pleases as it allows everyone to eat and relax as and when they want. It’s perfect for encouraging a large team to mingle a little more too.

Once the buffet has been enjoyed and no doubt demolished by everyone, the evening entertainment starts in the form of a disco. With your teams tummies full, and a few drinks down, we guarantee that every single one attending your Marygreen Manor Christmas Party will spend the rest of the evening dancing the night away, and you? Well, you’ll receive all the credit for the best office Christmas party yet. Call 01277 225252 for more info and please note a deposit of £28.50 per person will be required upon booking.

A Day At The Beach For Marygreen Manor Guests!

With summer upon us, we thought we’d have a little rundown of the top beach spots in Essex! While our summer may not be consistent, as Brits, we know only too well that a little rain doesn’t need to spoil a great day at the beach and with fantastic transport links from Marygreen Manor, including the M25, A12 and network rail from Brentwood itself, getting to the beach is now even easier. So let’s take a look at the best beaches in and around Essex, ideal for all Marygreen Manor guests to enjoy for the day…

Frinton-On-Sea – with stunning white sandy beaches, Frinton has put a lot of work into becoming a so-called uncommercialised beach. It’s doing everything possible to remain a quiet and family friendly resort and in doing so, has created a beautiful beach to take the kids or even enjoy a day without them for a little peace and quiet.

Southend-On-Sea– when you think of Southend-On-Sea, we know that the vast majority of people will automatically think of Peter Pan’s Island along with the seafront showered in ice cream filled shop fronts and they wouldn’t be wrong. This beach is a hub of fun and excitement for the family, offering something to do for everyone from a fun fair on the front to fish and chip shops and even a shopping centre close by too.

Clacton Beach – Clacton is no doubt famous amongst the older generation as the holiday hotspot from times gone by but it’s certainly not had its day. This fab beachside resort is the perfect location for a day trip. It’s considered the jewel in the crown of the Essex coast and we couldn’t agree more. Enjoy a taste of the classic British seaside in Clacton with amusement arcades, cafes and more.

Shoebury East Beach – while the vast majority of beaches in Southend will be made up predominantly of pebble, Shoebury East is a long and sandy beach, that enjoys a nice grassy area; very popular with the kids playing run outs and even more popular with those wanting to enjoy picnics on the beach itself.

Mersea Stone Beach – while it may not sound like the picturesque sandy beach we all know and love, Mersea stone (and pebble) beach along the eastern shore has been a very important part of the country for centuries. For those wanting a little history with their sightseeing, this is the perfect location.

Shoeburyness Beach – the sand and shingle beach of the famous Shoeburyness is backed by a promenade along with another large grassy area. Shoeburyness is also famous for its beautiful beach huts but for those visiting for the day, there’s also the famous Tom’s Café to while away the day, with good food and even better company.

Brightlingsea Beach – this is a sandy beach backed by a promenade with, once again, some truly stunning and might we add, colourful, beach huts. Brightlingsea was originally a fishing and shipbuilding area but it’s now a haven for yachting offering plenty of things to do for all ages.

Walton-On-The-Naze Beach – Walton-On-The-Naze has a beautiful and picturesque sandy beach. It’s also home to the second largest pier in Great Britain. For some, it’s the closest to Spain without having to hop on a plane. With various groynes and a couple of breakwaters, this beautiful location is a must see for those visiting Essex for the first time.

So there you have it. For all our guests, whether you’re staying for one night or ten, here at Marygreen Manor, we’ll steer you in the right direction of the best beach spots, and show you the best parts of Essex. Enjoy your beach days!

How to Survive Your First Music Festival

Festival season is well and truly upon us. With the WeAre Festival having just taken place and Brentwood Festival almost upon us, it’s safe to say we’re in the midst of a music filled summer. Glastonbury, V Festival, you name it, there’s a festival somewhere guaranteed to call out to your inner music fan and as Essex’s number one go-to hotel for festival goers, we thought we’d share our guide to surviving your first festival! Here goes…

Stuff to take – first and foremost, it pays to know the essentials you’ll want with you so let’s get to it. You’ll need wellies of course. These are a festival staple unless of course the weather is guaranteed to be a scorcher, in which case, a cool pair of flip flops (or sandals for the ladies) will be the perfect back up in your bag. Talking of weather, it’s worth taking a hoodie with you too. We are in Great Britain after-all, king of the surprise downfall. You’ll also want hand sanitiser, a waterproof jacket, a purse/wallet, sun cream and of course, a back up charger for your phone. Throw this all into a back pack and you’re good to go.

Music – we totally get that researching music may not be your “thang” but no matter how laid back a person you are, it pays to know a little about the festival you’re going to and the sort of music you’re going to listen to. Not only may you stumble upon a band you’ve loved for years, but it’ll also give you a good idea of the sort of festival you’ll be attending. Is it a house festival? Mainstream? Hard rock? It all makes a huge difference. It’ll also help you create a loose schedule, which may sound dull, but works wonders when you inevitably find yourself a little lost, in need of meeting up with your friends who forgot to bring that all-important back-up charger for their phone.

Snacks – it always pays to take a few snacks with you or better still, ensure you eat while you’re there. Let’s face it, festivals are the place to not only listen to music, but also sample some of your favourite ciders, beers and in some areas, fizz. When you’re drinking all day, especially in the sun, it’s important that you make sure you eat and enjoy the odd glass of water. This will stop you finding yourself in A&E or worse still, feeling too ill to enjoy the second day of the festival. Just remember, you don’t want to be THAT guy.

Accommodation – while festivals are all about the camping (for some) we know so many festival goers who much prefer the warm and clean environment of a hotel room, especially one that’s fairly close to the venue itself. Not only can you escape the muddy fields (a hideous scenario for those wearing flip flops – especially around the portable toilets) but you also get the opportunity to enjoy a fresh shower, change of outfit, and a full English breakfast before hitting the festival the next day. What could be better? We find this really appeals to families attending, along with those wanting to look their best each day of the festival.

For all those with festivals in their summer schedules, we hope you have a fabulous time and remember; if you’re looking for accommodation, look no further than our fabulous manor house right here in Brentwood, Essex.

Our Wedding Venue Open Day Is A Date For Your Diary!

wedding venue open day

As the summer season sets in, so too does that wonderful wedding buzz. Here at Marygreen Manor, we simply adore the glow of an excited bride, the jovial behavior between a groom and his groomsmen. We love watching couples say “I do”, dedicating their lives to one another and celebrating all that it entails with their nearest and dearest. While the wedding day is indeed an important day, and one to be remembered no less, there’s one day that the staff of Marygreen Manor love even more than a wedding and that’s our wedding open days. The air of excitement that takes over our manor house from not just one, but a multitude of excited couples is quite simply heart warming. There’s nothing so beautiful as a newly engaged couple envisioning their day together. With this in mind, we’d like to ask you to put a date in your diary for our next wedding venue open day!

On Saturday 30th September, we’ll be opening our doors for all newly engaged (and not so newly engaged) couples up and down the country. You’ll get to see our full facilities in all their glory, set for the wedding of your dreams from 10am until 4pm. We’ll be offering canapés, Champagne and unbridled viewing of everywhere from our bridal suites to our ceremony halls. You’ll also be privy to some fabulous special offers and discounts on the day.

Why attend our wedding venue open day?

A question we often get asked however, “should I go to a wedding open day?” So we thought we’d address this commonly asked question here by explaining exactly why you should! Here goes;

It’s super fun – while it might sound like a bit of a drag for those who may not be as detail oriented as the next person, wedding open days are great fun. Not only will you get to see the place you’ll (hopefully) be saying “I do” but you’ll also get to enjoy free champagne and canapés. What more could you want?

Take the stress out of your big day – attending our wedding venue open day won’t just give you a glimpse of your wedding venue. It will also give you a glimpse as to how we can help you when it comes to catering, drinks and décor. We’ll help to take the stress out of your day by organising a huge chunk. We may even be able to offer the names of some fabulous suppliers we’ve worked with before in the past.

Feel inspired – not sure how you want your big day to look? Then allow us to show you some of the best ways to decorate our manor house. Take a little inspiration from the experts here at Marygreen Manor and add your own personal twist.

Save money – as we mentioned above, attending our wedding venue open day will mean you’re privy to a few discounts and deals. This will save you more money than you realised; money that could be better spent elsewhere, such as a honeymoon for example?

Ask all the questions you need to – we know only too well in this day and age that finding out information can be tough. The majority of the time, it’s a case of sending emails back and forth until you have all the information you need which, when coupled with jobs and family commitments, can take a while. By attending our open day however, you’ll get to ask all the questions you can think of and receive an answer there and then. No time consuming emails, no back and forth with staff members. Just simple, easy advice and help.
