Autumn Country Walks, Perfect From Marygreen Manor!

As the days begin to turn colder and the light fades, leaving us with shorter, darker days, the temptation can be to simply sit indoors beside the fire with your family. It’s still family time certainly but all those hours indoors, confined within four walls, breathing in stuffy central heating certainly won’t do you any good! With the right clothing however, (and the lure of a warm, cosy country pub of course) autumn walks can be a great way for the family to spend some time together. Not only are you getting out of the house but you’re also getting some great exercise and some much needed fresh air. What could be better?

When you’re staying with us at the Marygreen Manor, we’re just a few moments from some fabulous autumn walks making our location even better. Essex is famous for it’s beautiful countryside and Brentwood is no exception. Within just a few minutes of our manor house we have the stunning South Weald Country Park. This fantastic piece of countryside offers beautiful sights from the stunning deer (especially exciting for the kids) to the open fields and visitor’s centre. Through autumn you’ll find fields and trees filled with stunning red leaves and plenty of places to get lost. It’s the perfect family day out.

That’s not all Brentwood has to offer however. We also have the rather fabulous Thorndon Country Park. This beautiful forest is huge, lying in the middle of Warley and Ingrave. This park has proven very popular over the years, especially with the younger children as it has the famous Gruffalo Trail! The visitor centre has a variety of sweets, treats and drinks, both hot and cold and there’s also a great pathway all the way around the park which means you don’t have to get too muddy if you don’t want to.

Better yet, you could always take in the beautiful sights in our very own landscaped gardens right here at The Marygreen Manor. From our garden view rooms to the views from our conservatory, the choice is quite literally yours.
