Have fun this May Bank Holiday at the Robin Hood Game and Country Show

TOWIE aside, Essex is probably best known for its history, incomparable countryside and fantastic connections into London but what Essex residents don’t always tell you about are the rather exciting events held up and down the county all throughout the year. With the weather looking somewhat on the up it would seem, it means only one thing…Essex country and fair shows.

All over the county this year we’ll be able to enjoy the great outdoors mixed with country displays, crafts, local brews and even dog shows and what’s more, they’re all easily accessible from our very own Marygreen Manor. Those who find themselves staying with us this coming May Bank Holiday are lucky enough to be in the perfect position for visiting not only one of the first country shows of the season but perhaps one of the most anticipated of the year.

The Robin Hood Game and Country Show will be heading back to the Brentwood Centre with a bang this year, promising to be even more exciting than its previous events. Coming to Brentwood on the 3rd and 4th of May, this country show offers not only arena events but food, crafts, attractions for all the family and even incorporates the massively popular All About Dogs Show. This year the arena will be playing host to a number of different displays from jousting and horsemanship to a K9 display team and even a children’s agility team. That’s not all however, as this year looks set to be even bigger with a whopping 200 stalls. Whether you’re looking to stock up on an entirely new country clothing wardrobe or sample some of the delicious delicacies of our fabulous home county, you’ll love everything that’s on offer.

There’s something for all the family too with locally brewed beers and ciders as well as fun and excitement for the children with the most exciting new addition to the show in the shape of the ‘Meet Dinosaurs’ display. From a life size T-Rex to a baby Raptor, the kids (and big kids alike) will be able to discover more about these ancient creatures and even interact with the life like models that have come straight from the Jurassic era. This is one event that’s not to be missed that’s for certain. On top of the brand new ‘Meet Dinosaurs’ display, there will also be a few extra additions in the form of Military Vehicle displays and even Reptile Encounters.

Love your dogs? Then you’ll love the All About Dogs Show.

Of course the Robin Hood Game and Country Show really wouldn’t be what it is without the famous All About Dogs Show enjoying some of the spotlight. This show within a show will offer fun dog shows for everyone in the family to take part in along with expert advice, breed stands and even have-a-go events such as the dog agility, obedience training and the K9 aqua competitions which have been brought back due to hugely popular demand. On top of this they’ll be plenty of opportunity to indulge in a little doggy shopping, perfect for those who like to pamper their pooches and keep them ahead of the style stakes in Essex.

The Marygreen Manor Hotel and Restaurant couldn’t be in a more perfect location for this famous Essex event. A mere five minute drive away means as a guest, you get to enjoy the show in all its glory but better still, you get to come back to the luxury and comfort of our manor hotel and reflect on the fun family day out. On top of this you’ll also get to wash down the numerous different locally brewed ciders you tried with exquisitely prepared food from our award-winning kitchen. We like to call this, ending the day on a particularly high note.
